Saint Louis Cemetery Saint Louis Cemetery is the name of three Roman Catholic cemeteries in the middle of the city. The dead are placed in vaults and mausoleums rather than the ground. The above-ground tombs are required because the ground water levels make burial impractical in New Orleans. Tourists are discouraged from visiting the cemeteries due to the rising crime rate and number of attacks. |
